About

A small measuring tool that tries to be honest

Laju exists because too many speed tests show a big number without explaining where it came from, or what it cannot prove.

Laju started from a simple need: explaining to someone why a connection sold as fast still feels slow. A download figure alone rarely answers that, because latency and jitter are usually what gets in the way.

So every result here comes with its context — when it was measured, against which server, for how long, and over how many parallel connections. The engine parameters are rendered straight from configuration rather than retyped by hand.

The project is maintained by one person and is still growing. If you spot a number that looks wrong or an explanation that reads badly, hearing about it genuinely helps.

Principles

Three things we hold to

  • Open about the method

How the measurement works, which parameters it uses and where it falls short are written on a page anyone can read, not buried in jargon.

  • As little data as possible

No accounts, no advertising trackers, and results that stay in your browser. The test payload is random bytes the server throws away.

  • Usable by everyone

Colour contrast, keyboard navigation, alternative text and reduced-motion preferences were considered from the start rather than patched on later.

Boundaries

What we deliberately do not do

Just as important as a feature list: the things Laju intentionally leaves out.

  • We do not promise results identical to an operator's own official measurement equipment.
  • We do not store your results on a server or build user profiles.
  • We do not publish provider rankings or comparisons, because our data is not sufficient for that.
  • We do not claim any certification, accreditation or award.

Ready to see how your connection is doing?

The test takes about half a minute and asks for no personal details at all.
