Privacy policy
The short version: measurements use random bytes, results stay in your browser, and your IP address is used only to show it back to you.

01 Summary
Laju is a measurement tool without accounts. We do not ask for a name, phone number or payment details in order to run a test.
This page explains what happens to the technical data that is unavoidable whenever a site is loaded, such as the IP address that every server you contact can see.
02 Measurement data
The download test sends random bytes from our server to your browser. The upload test sends random bytes from your browser to our server, which discards them immediately without storing, reading or analysing them. Only the byte count is used.
Measurement results such as download speed and latency are not sent to our servers. Those figures are computed in your browser.
03 IP addresses
Whenever a browser contacts a server, that server sees your IP address; this is true of every website and cannot be avoided. The Laju server uses that address only to return it to you in the connection panel.
Our application code does not write IP addresses to any database or log file.
04 Third-party services
So that both IPv4 and IPv6 can be shown at once, your browser contacts two hostnames that each serve a single address family. Those services receive your IP address, because returning it is precisely what they do, and they have their own privacy policies.
The exact endpoints used by this deployment are listed on the Compliance page. Whoever runs the deployment can disable these lookups, in which case the connection panel shows only the address our own server sees.
Web fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, so your browser contacts that service while the page loads.
05 Storage on your device
Test history is kept in your browser's local storage, capped at the 30 most recent results. It is never sent to our servers and can be erased at any time with the button on the History page or by clearing site data in your browser.
07 Analytics
As of the last update to this document, the site runs no third-party analytics. If that changes, this page and the Compliance page will be updated before such a service is enabled.
08 Children
The service is aimed at a general audience and is not designed specifically for children. Because there are no accounts and no profiling, we do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
09 Your rights
Because we hold no data that identifies you, there is no personal archive we could export or delete on request. What exists sits on your device and is entirely under your control.
